Microsoft is still working on E-Ink cover for ... Lumia 640

In 2016, MSPoweruser posted an article about a Microsoft Research project that is researching how to "equip" a second screen for smartphones using the Display Cover, a case that uses e-ink. Serves many different purposes.

It looks like Microsoft Research continues to implement this idea. Evidence that they have just presented this project at UbiComp 2018, a conference on pervasive and ubiquitous computing is being held in Singapore.

The camera is equipped with an Alcantara cover (which comes before the Surface appears for a long time) is the Lumia 640. The cover has a total of 5 buttons, one button that will be able to use to capture the current screen ( This screen is then displayed even when the machine is off. The battery from the Lumia will power the cover, but it will receive data via Bluetooth.

This is the E-ink screen used to cover the Lumia 640 .

Although this idea has only recently been announced, it seems that Microsoft is moving back to the past rather than trying to catch up with new technologies and trends. We hope Silicon Valley software giant will invest more to turn this idea into a product that is as realistic as its Surface line.
